As a dietitian I know the importance of including healthy fats and protein into my family’s meals. As I mom I know the importance of simplicity when it comes to preparing food for my family. Solution: simple salmon patties.
Salmon is a nutrient dense fish, with omega-3s, protein, vitamin D and B12. There’s a lot of bang for your buck in this fish! It’s also a great protein for kids. And happens to be easy to prepare!
I find the most convenient way to eat salmon is from a can or pouch. For this recipe, I chose salmon from the pouch with bones and skin already removed (get them here). Convenience was the ultimate deciding factor!
There are many ways to cook salmon, but my favorite way is to make simple salmon patties or salmon burgers (whatever you want to call them). This canned salmon recipe is the ultimate family-friendly meal, and with only 5-ingredients it can’t be an easier entrée to prepare. Just mix the ingredients, form into patties and brown them on each side in a frying or skillet pan like this one!
Typically, growing up we had salmon patties during the Lenten season. But salmon is great year-round. It works well as a fall weeknight meal, especially paired with sweet potato fries and broccoli or brussel sprouts. They can even be prepped ahead and refrigerated or frozen, so weeknight prep is short and sweet.
You can always get creative with this recipe and add veggies, spices or create other variations. But this is the simplest recipe for an easy meal the whole family can enjoy. I hope you love it!
